Former Warrior Hintz competes in nationals

Former Del Norte High School pole vaulter Kelsy Hintz competed in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday.

Hintz, a sophomore at San Diego State University, was one of four of the 24 finalists unable to clear the opening height of 12 feet, 9½ inches in three attempts and did not move on in the competition.

To reach nationals, Hntz, a 2008 Del Norte graduate, earned the 12th and final spot with a vault of 13 feet, 3½ inches at the NCAA West Regionals in Eugene, Ore., on May 27.
