Hoffman catch could be voted play of the year

A juggling circus catch by Brigham Young University sophomore Cody Hoffman has been chosen as one of four of this week’s nominees for the 2011 GEICO Play of the Year. If Hoffman’s play is the week’s top vote-getter, it will earn a spot in the finals. The Play of the Year will be announced Nov. 25 during “GEICO presents Best of College Football” on CBS. Hoffman, a 2009 Del Norte High graduate, made the 46-yard grab during a game at Oregon State University on Oct. 15. Hoffman had 162 yards and a score in the contest. People can vote for their favorite plays for this week until Sunday at 7:59 a.m. PDT. As of Wednesday night, Hoffman’s play was in first place with 58 percent of the vote. Votes can be made on Facebook at www.facebook.com/bestofcollegefootball. |
