Pierce and the Bombers earn crucial CFL victory

Buck Pierce and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers came back from a 15-point deficit to defeat the Montreal Alouettes 26-25 in a crucial Canadian Football League matchup on Saturday at home.

Pierce, a 2000 Del Norte High School graduate and the team’s starting quarterback, went 21 of 31 for 236 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

“We showed what we’ve showed all year in adverse situations –– we showed our character and our poise and our belief in our guys,” Pierce said in a story in the Winnipeg Free Press.

With the win, Winnipeg is currently tied for first with Montreal at 10-6 in the East Division. The Blue Bombers also have the tiebreaker advantage, having beaten the Alouettes in two of its three meetings this year. Winnipeg faces Toronto at home Friday starting at 5 p.m. PDT. The game will be shown live on the internet on ESPN3.
