‘Pretty good’ at first meet

The Del Norte High girls and boys cross-country teams opened their season Wednesday with a league meet in Fortuna.

The girls team officially placed third and the boys team unofficially placed fourth, said coach Kirk Burrows.

“For the first meet of the season we did pretty good,” Burrows said.

Results for the Warrior girls included: senior Guadalupe Gonzalez, eighth overall out of about 47 girls in a time of 23:40; senior Sabrina Bustamante, 13th, 26:05; freshman Spring Wilson, 17th, 27:34; junior Samantha Henkell, 20th, 28:29; and sophomore Samantha Ballard, 27th, 31:28.

For the Warrior boys (times unavailable) out of about 60 runners: freshman Garrett Galea, 22nd; freshman Parker Thompson, 29th; junior Ryan Waite, 30th; freshman Graeson Cameron, 32nd; sophomore Nicholas Jacob, 38th; senior Hunter Mattz, 43rd; junior Blaine Sutton, 44th; and sophomore Glenn Duncan, 49th.
