The annual migration of a pair of hand-carved salmon begins tomorrow at 5:30 a.m.

The Klamath-Trinity Salmon Run, now in its 11th year, was originally conceived as a method of raising awareness of salmon-related issues.

The run begins along Klamath Beach Road in Klamath and continues along California State Highway 169 and Klamath Glen Road. The two wooden salmon batons will be exchanged between runners at regular two-mile intervals; runners may complete as much of the course as they’d like at their own pace.

The salmon will eventually board a boat at the Klamath River and make their way to Hoopa and Orleans, a one-way journey of approximately 50 miles.
