The Siskiyou Savages semi-pro football team were close to gaining a come-from-behind win against the Bend Lightning on Saturday, but could not pull it off, losing 17-13.
With time running out, the Savages got the ball down to the one foot line, but time ran out. There were no time outs left.
"We just can't quite get it done," head coach Dick Trone said. The game started well, with D.J. Suban recovering from a Lightning fumble and scampering for a 40-yard touchdown, but the Savages could not sustain the lead. The loss dropped the Savages to 1-4 for the year. The game was played for the first time this year in Crescent City.
