The upper division has six teams this year while the lower division has 10 teams. There are also 11 co-ed teams signed up this season. The co-ed regular season kicked off Tuesday.
All three divisions will play two games a week until the end of August. The men’s upper division plays its final regular season games on Aug. 11; the lower division wraps up on Aug. 18; and the co-ed teams finish the regular season on Aug. 21.
The Del Norte Recreation Department will also be hosting three big slowpitch tournaments throughout the summer starting with the Firecracker Tournament at Pykes Field on Saturday and Sunday.
The Firecracker Tournament is a one-pitch tournament that Del Norte Recreation Director John Horner said will draw teams all the way from Medford. One-pitch means that each batter will see one pitch; a strike or foul ball is an out, while a ball is a walk.
“The Firecracker is cool because it is right around the Fourth of July and the one-pitch kind of adds a new dimension to it,” Horner said.
