The Del Norte High softball team went 1-for-2 at Eureka on Saturday in its Big- 5 Conference opener, losing the first game 11-7, and winning the second game 5-4. The Warriors are now 11-2 for the year. In the first game, the team exploded for six runs in the first four innings, before the squad's bats became silent and fielding errors popped up. The team had eight errors for the game, coach Jackie Heuberger said, contributing to the loss.
While the Warriors were still having some problems with fielding errors in the second game, they found a way to win.
In the first contest, Lauryn Lesina went 1-for-4 with a homerun and three runs batted in. Michelle Stacey stole four bases in both matches, including three in the first game. Tasheena Natt went 2-for-3 in the second game.
Del Norte next plays on Wednesday at Arcata.
