Battle at the Border softball tourney Sat.

The Del Norte County Recre- ation Department is hosting its Battle at the Border softball tour- nament on July 28–29 at Pyke Field in Crescent City.

The tournament pits teams from Oregon and California against one another to crown a champion. Participants may also sign up for a home run derby competition.

Cost per team is $250; the reg- istration deadline is Monday, July 23. The registration fee may be paid at 981 H Street, Suite 250 in Crescent City.

'British Soccer Camp’ coming to Crescent City

Del Norte United and Chal- lenger Sports are hosting a “British Soccer Camp” for kids ages 3–19, to be held Aug. 13–17 at Peterson Park in Crescent City.

Cost is $72 for children ages 3–4 and $97 for children ages 5–19 and includes a free T-shirt, soccer ball, poster and skills eval-uation. To sign up, visit www.challengersports.com. Sign-ups for Crescent City Triathlon underway

Registration for the 28th Annual Crescent City Triathlon is officially underway. The Triathlon begins Sunday, August 12, at 8:30 a.m. starting at Fred Endert Municipal Pool, 1000 Play Drive, Crescent City. Cost is $45 for adults and $20 for kids aged 12 and under, with fees increasing $5 after July 31. All proceeds from the event benefit the Del Norte High School Scholarship Fund.

The triathlon competition in- cludes a 500-yard swim, a 12- mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. The adult duathlon competition includes a 1.25-mile run, a 12- mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. Kids triathlons vary between age groups, with swims up to 100 yards, bike rides up to six miles and runs up to one mile. Relay teams are permitted to enter the event. 

Medals and T-shirts will be given to all participants, with the top three finishers in each age group receiving awards.
