Warrior girls tennis team earns 5-4 victoryThe Del Norte High girls tennis team defeated St. Bernard’s of Eureka on the road on Thursday, 5-4. Del Norte improved to 6-4 for the year. In No. 1 singles, Kathryn Gustafson defeated Maricela Resendez 6-0, 6-1. In No. 3 singles, Jordan Babich defeated Alia San Gipvanni 6-3, 6-3 and No. 4 seed Taylor Cleland downed Amelia Wang 6-0. The Warriors also earned wins in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles play Youth football ends regular season in C.C.The Del Norte Youth Football League will play its final regular season games at home at Del Norte High School on Sunday. The day begins with an 8 a.m. game, when the DNYF A Blue team faces MYF White. At noon, the DNYF A Gold team faces Hoopa. In the AA division, the DNYF Blue team faces MYF White at 10 a.m. At 2 p.m., the DNYF Gold team plays HYF. In the AAA division, Del Norte already has the win without playing a down due to a forfeit by HYF.
QB Pierce and the Bombers play todayBuck Pierce and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers face the Montreal Alouettes today at home. Pierce, the starting quarterback of the 9-6 Bombers, is a 2000 Del Norte High graduate. It’s a big game with first place in the CFL East Division on the line against the 10-5 Montreal squad. The Blue Bombers have already earned a playoff berth. The contest begins at noon PDT and will be shown live on the internet on ESPN3.
