Three DN youth FB teams win in playoffs

Three Del Norte High Youth Football teams won in the opening round of the Six Rivers Youth Football Conference playoffs Sunday on the road.

Two of these teams will now host a second round playoff game this Sunday at Del Norte High School at Mike Whalen Field.

In the AAA division, Del Norte, which had won only one game this season, upset Redwoods 18-12.

They will face Fortuna at 2 p.m. Sunday in Crescent City.

In the AA division, DNYF Gold downed Southern Humboldt 26-0. The DNYF Blue team defeated Hoopa 36-12.

On Sunday, the Gold team faces Redwood at home at noon. The Blue team will play Ferndale at St. Bernard’s High School in Eureka at noon.

In the A division, the DNYF Gold team lost to Ferndale 21-0. The DNYF Blue team fell to Eureka Green 6-0 in overtime.

On Sunday, DNYF will host the A division contest between Ferndale and Fortuna Blue at 10 a.m at the high school.
