The Warriors dropped to 4-3 for the year.
In No. 1 singles, Kathryn Gustafson of Del Norte downed Geena Damian 6-0, 6-2.
“In her singles match she was really able to hit her wide angles
today, which really frustrated her opponent,” head coach Sara Miller
said. In No. 2 singles play Sam Bausch lost to MeiLan Hughes 2-6,
2-6. In No. 3 singles Jordan Babich fell to Moemi Schonengerger 2-6,
1-6.
In No. 4 singles play Taylor Cleland won against Kristyn Payne 7-5,
6-2. In No. 5 play, Alexis Wright fell to Kim-Tu Pham 4-6, 1-6. Kira
Morse lost to Hannah Mathew 0-6, 0-6.
In doubles, Gustafson and Bausch earned a 6-4, 6-0 victory. In No. 2
doubles Babich andCleland pulled off a tough win 4-6, 6-6 (10-8), 6-2.
“Jordan and Taylor played excellent at the net during their doubles
matc,h and I’m proud of them for dueling it out in three sets with
Arcata and securing a win,” Miller said. Wright and Morse lost 0-6,
1-6.
Today, weather permitting, the Warriors face Northcoast Prep at home
between 2:30 and 3 p.m. On Saturday they will face Fortuna at home
starting at 10 a.m.
