The Del Norte High girls tennis team had another strong performance on Tuesday, defeating North Coast Prep 7-2 at home.
The win brings the Warriors to 7-0 in Humboldt-Del Norte Conference play, good enough for first.
Del Norte was coming off a huge victory on Saturday when the squad defeated Arcata 5-4. It was the first conference loss for the Tigers since 2005.
In the No. 1 player match, Warrior Emma Wilson defeated Chisa Hughes 6-0, 6-1.
Rebecca Cink downed Genay Pilarowski 6-3, 6-3. No. 3 Jennifer Gustafson won her match against Amy Wolfberg 6-0, 6-3.
Lauren Golda, the No. 4 seed for Del Norte downed Haley Connors-Keith 6-1, 6-1. No. 5 Ashleigh Speaker defeated Abi Olmstead 6-2, 6-1. Kelsey Hintz, the No. 6 player for the Warriors downed Chelsea Morden 6-0, 6-1.
In an exhibition match, Jaden Olson of Del Norte defeated Elena Tessler 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Wilson and Speaker won against Hughes and Wolfberg 8-1.
Mollie McLoughlin and Meghan Webb of Del Norte lost to Pilarowski and Connors-Keith 2-8.
Amy McLoughlin and Ornella Bua lost to Olmstead and Morden 6-8.
Head coach Jane Rumiano said she was pleased that in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches that some of the girls with less tennis experience had the chance to play.
"I was pleased with the progress they've made during the season, and this match gave them incentive to work on skills and strategy in practice," she said.
Del Norte next plays on Saturday at home against Fortuna at 11 a.m.
