A total of 11 teams, including several local squads, took part in the camp. The event began on Friday and concluded on Sunday.
Teams that took part included Red Bluff, West Valley of Cottonwood, and local teams Eureka, McKinleyvile, Hoopa and St. Bernard’s.
This was the second camp the Warriors took part in this summer. Last
month, they participated in a camp in Gold Beach, Ore.
Del Norte head coach Ray Rook said that the two camps gave the squad a
great way to prepare for the upcoming season by being able to
scrimmage other teams and work on fundementals.
“It helps by having them be active by competing and staying in
shape,” he said,
“At times we executed and at other times we didn’t, but overall we
did really well,” Rook said.
He said that camps like these give the coaches a good idea of
strengths and weaknesses that they can work on before the season begins.
The Warriors begin fall camp on Aug, 15. The season begins for Del
Norte on Sept. 2 in Crescent City against Hidden Valley, Ore.
