The Del Norte High varsity volleyball team began the Big 5 Conference schedule in style Thursday night, downing Eureka in three games on the road.
The Warriors won 25-15, 25-7 and 25-22 to go to 12-8 for the season.
Del Norte went undefeated in Big 5 play last year and have not lost a conference game since 2005.
For 18 straight years, the Warriors have won the Big 5 title outright, or have been co-champions.
"Overall, it was a pretty good game," head coach Meagan Curtis "You always worry about the first conference game because it counts towards the Big 5 championship."
Curtis was pleased with the "good job" her team did hitting and putting the ball away and not letting any first game jitters affect them on the court the first two matches.
The third match was much tighter, with things "going back and fourth, back and fourth," throughout the match, she said.
Curtis said the Loggers started to communicate with each other better and get needed points on the board.
The momentum went back to the Warriors near the end of the match when Ashley Owen made two kills in a row, Curtis said.
For the contest, Owen had 14 kills, and Lisa Daniels had 8 kills.
Deja Hartwick recorded 23 assists and Tabitha Hillman had five digs.
In junior varsity action, the Warriors lost 22-25 and 11-25.
Del Norte next plays in a home game on Tuesday against Fortuna.
