The Youth Basketball season came to a close in festive fashion on Wednesday night with the annual All-Star Game and Medal Ceremony in Thunen Gym just before the start of the Jaycees Tournament.

“We always have it on the Wednesday before the start of Jaycees, just to get everybody excited about basketball,” said Del Norte Rec Department Coordinator John Horner.

This year, the youth league had 410 kids, the most in over five years according to Horner, on 44 teams. Kids ranged from kindergarten to sixth grade.

“It all starts with having 44 sponsors that make it all happen,” Horner said.

This year, every team had a sponsor, with Dutch Bros leading the way by sponoring seven teams.

Players that paid for team photos, but did not pick them up on Wednesday can call Carlene Lacy at 951-7082 to arrange to pick them up.
