To celebrate Earth Day, Crescent Elk Middle School gave a fitting tribute to the great gray owl that visited the North Coast earlier this year.
Youngsters dressed in white and black Thursday to create the owl in flight while Oregon-based artist Daniel Dancer captured the final project with his camera from atop a fire truck ladder. The numbers 407 above the owl represents the current carbon dioxide level in parts per million.
Dancer created Art for the Sky to show the value of collaboration as well as getting above our problems and looking at the bigger picture. According to him, with six under its belt, Crescent Elk Middle School has done more sky art projects than any other school he’s worked with.
