Redwood, Smith River, Crescent Elk all had a team reach the championships at Jaycees Tourney
The 42nd Annual Jaycees Girls Basketball Tournament had to scramble to fill all five brackets in the week leading up to the event, but once everything got set the two-day tournament went off without a hitch Friday and Saturday.
Del Norte County had even more representatives than originally expected with nine local schools competing in the 40-team tournament. Crescent Elk had three eighth grade teams and a seventh-grade team in attendance. Redwood sent three teams with the eighth-, seventh- and sixth-graders all represented. Smith River also had a team compete, as did Uncharted Shores Academy.
