Pounding rain, high winds, large waves and high tide ran emergency personnel ragged on Saturday as they responded to downed trees, sparking power lines and arcing transformers.

The storm, coupled with a high tide, swept large rocks, logs and driftwood onto Anchor Way at the Crescent City Harbor. Cars were driving through sea foam on U.S. Highway 101 south of Crescent City.

The storm also left much of Del Norte County without power for several hours. According to Paul Vogel, Pacific Power’s vice president of communications, about 10,000 Northern California customers were without power intermittently since the early hours of Saturday morning.
