Process debated, appointment denied

The Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority will remain at 60 percent board capacity after county supervisors' on Tuesday failed to approve Patricia Black as a public member to the authority’s board.

Black would have filled the public member vacancy created when Angela Glore resigned in October to work as executive director for First 5 Del Norte. Black was selected from a pool of seven applicants at a special meeting of the SWMA early this month and approved unanimously by the Crescent City Council last week.

Black said she is not upset over the denied appointment, though she is disappointed "from the point of view of the solid waste board being able to accomplish the things that they need to accomplish."
