A parasite that can be deadly to salmon has returned to the Klamath River, the Yurok Tribe announced Thursday.

Aiming to improve the jail

 In the third part of a continuing series examining Del Norte County Sheriff Erik Apperson’s 180-day plan after his first six months in office, the Triplicate will take a closer look at changes made to the Del Norte County Jail within the past six months and his hopes for revamping the jail in the near future. Other claims examined in Part 3 include Apperson’s promise to start a multi-agency task force aimed at information sharing, the creation of an auxiliary volunteer program, providing training in writing reports from the District Attorney as well as ethics training, and bringing the National Citizens Police Academy to the county. City asks folks to turn down the water

The largest public water supplier in the county, Crescent City, is looking to help locals conserve water to meet a reduction quota mandated by the state to assuage California’s dwindling water supply.

Water use restrictions

Water conservation restrictions are in effect statewide: What’s listed below are the minimum requirements for reducing water use. Non-compliance should be reported to the Public Works Department at 707-464-7483 ext. 226.

Taking a whack at weed grows

Operation Yurok, a multi-agency operation to eradicate large marijuana grows within the Yurok Reservation and adjacent lands in Humboldt County, continues this week and has already reached its stated goal to confiscate and destroy three times the number of pot plants as it did in its first year in 2014.

Survey: Local voters value honesty

85% find at least some agreement with their supervisor

Honesty trumps knowledge of the issues for local voters deciding whom to support in elections, according to a recent survey conducted by LifeStyles Research Company.
