Community can’t afford for Measure F to fail

There have recently been many letters to the editor regarding Measure F. Most of these letters have shown widespread support for Measure F. Support has been pledged from nearly every facet of our community, including Democrat, Republican and Tea Party leaders.

Local dairy farm family supports Measure F

The Alexandre family is supporting Measure F to keep our customs, culture and traditions alive for future generations. There are many reasons for our choice, but the most important to us is the hundreds of children, from grade school to high school, who participate in the 4-H, Grange and FFA auctions every year to show and sell their animals.

Pages of History: Chaotic opening of one-ways

From the pages of the Del Norte Triplicate, October 1958.

New couplet open to traffic

Crescent City’s new one-way couplet and one-way streets officially opened Tuesday morning to the squeal of brakes, the blare of horns and the low moans of city police who found that educating the public to one-way traffic wasn’t the easiest job in the world.

Hospital’s plan for ‘Critical Access’ shows wrong priority

As a retired employee of Sutter Coast Hospital (SCH), I would like to share my thoughts about the possibility, or probability, of Sutter Coast Hospital becoming a Critical Access Hospital.

Former Mariposa sheriff backs incumbent in Del Norte race

I have known Sheriff Wilson on a professional basis since 2003. I know him to be very knowledgeable, personable, punctual and have excellent moral values. I have sat in meetings with him on very critical issues facing rural sheriffs in the state of California. Dean was always outspoken in these meetings, always with his residents and visitors’ safety as the priority.

Taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to support fair

To answer Donna Mallatt’s wondering (“Measure F is in ‘special interest’ of entire community,” Oct. 9) which special interest groups I was talking about in my Oct. 4 letter, and she gave a very long list: all of them.

Twenty years ago

Apperson’s campaign for ‘change’ surprising

This is not to disparage an exemplary police officer and patrol supervisor, but as I read the Sept. 27 Triplicate article titled “Sheriff hopefuls hash out platforms,” I was somewhat astonished to read Erik Apperson’s announced plan to rely on the now-famous rallying call of Barack Obama to propel him into the office of the chief law enforcement officer of Del Norte County.

Del Norte deserves the best judge for the job: Chris Doehle

Our local political offices are non-partisan, and I feel free as a Republican to openly endorse whomever I choose to be the better candidate.  I strongly support Chris Doehle and hope you do, too, for all the right reasons.

Let Wilson continue to do the ‘very best job’

I have known and worked with both sheriff candidates over the last 14 years. I can tell you from firsthand experience and knowledge that only one candidate has the integrity and experience to run this sheriff’s office, and that is Dean Wilson.
