 The salmon were out in force and biting over the weekend near the port of Brookings before slowing down to just a few fish per day for the rest of the week. Bottomfish remain plentiful in both Northern California and Southern Oregon, but choppy seas have slowed anglers from hauling them in quite as quickly as they have become accustomed to this year.

 Late rally lifts Home Wreckers to 154-150 win over Sirens in possible budding friendly rivalry

The first ever meeting between the Tsunami Sirens and the Wine Country Home Wreckers on Saturday turned into an exciting affair as the lead changed hands like a hot potato. Sonoma County Roller Derby completed the drama with a late rally to regain the lead with the final jam of the bout for a 154-150 victory.

The Annual Crescent City Fourth of July Run/Walk is scheduled to take place at its usual place and time; starting on Pebble Beach Drive near Washington at 10 a.m.

Youth Football Camp deadline approaches

The annual Warrior Youth Football camp will be held on the high school practice field July 8–10 this year. The camp aims to provide specialized training for each position as well as instill a positive winning attitude and the concept of teamwork.

 Black snappers plentiful near harbor while salmon still elusive; halibut opens again July 1 

The fish in the ocean have held the status quo for another week. In what has become the trend this spring and early summer, ocean sportfishermen have been reporting plenty of black snappers and lingcod available around Crescent City. Meanwhile the salmon seem to be stubbornly holding in deep water, and anglers aren’t having much luck hooking them yet this year.
