1 of 2 ships late; but fest will go on

The Crescent City Harbor Tall Ships Festival will go on as planned this weekend, even though it may begin with only one of the two expected vessels in dock.

The event featuring live music and local food, art and crafts vendors will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority said the tall ship Lady Washington is now expected to arrive sometime Saturday.

A series of storms off the California coast delayed the departure of the Lady Washington from Bodega Bay, the authority said.

Her companion ship, the Hawaiian Chieftain, is expected to arrive on schedule in Crescent City late this afternoon. Both ships will be berthed in the harbor.

Guests who hold tickets for the 2 p.m. Saturday Battle Sail are asked to call the Historical Seaport office at 800-200-5239 for an exchange or refund.
