Board Director Kevin Caldwell read the statement after directors emerged from a meeting closed to the public.
The statement said the organization’s board plans to “Continue to explore ways of getting our message out about our vision for Healthcare in Del Norte County, which is expanded healthcare at a reasonable price, and that profits made at this hospital (Sutter Coast Hospital) stay in Del Norte County, and to thank the people for their ongoing support and ask them for their continued support as we move forward with this positive vision for Del Norte County.”
After their special closed session, Caldwell added, “During our closed meeting there was nothing specific to vote on, but we gave specific direction to our Sutter Health research sub-committee (Dwayne Reichlin and Terry McNamara) to continue to work with a PR (public relations) company on ways to get our message out to the community, and that message is the statement we issued.”
Caldwell said the district has received much support from the community, but needs continued support.
“We want everyone to know that we are working very hard on this,” Caldwell said.
The next HCD meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 5.
