Death Notice: James Lionel Husong

James Lionel Husong born Oct. 17, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo., died on Nov. 23, 2014, in Crescent City at the age of 86. He was a 28-year resident of Del Norte County.

Visitation will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 2–7 p.m. Graveside services will be at the Del Norte County Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. with military honors.

Linda Little, 66, was suddenly taken from us on Nov. 16, 2014. 

She had retired in Prescott Valley in 2010. She was born in Perth, Australia, and loved being an Aussie. 


Obituary: Hazel Sue Mae Wilson (March 19, 1943 – Nov. 14, 2014)

Hazel Sue Mae Wilson, 71, passed away on Nov. 14, 2014, in Crescent City. A lifelong resident of Del Norte County, she was born March 19, 1943, in Crescent City.  

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Hambro Forest Products for 35 years.

Sondra Ann Russell, born June 24, 1942, in Chehalis, Wash., passed away on Nov. 15, 2014, at the age of 72. She was a 50-year resident of Del Norte County.

Sondra enjoyed bingo, traveling, hunting with Hook and her family and especially loved to make her yard look perfect. She loved her grandchildren and was proud of her children and grandchildren. Sondra lived for her family.

Lucian J. Cregor Jr.
Lucian J. Cregor Jr. died Nov. 14, 2014, after a long illness. He was born in Fresno on Aug. 27, 1937. Lucian had many careers. After his folks moved to Manteca he worked for Center Plumbing as a bookkeeper for 25 years. Lucian earned his general contractors license and continued to build and remodel homes. He also obtained his real estate license and worked for Shield’s Realty from 1972 to 1980. It was in the early 1980s when Lucian opened up Jim’s Plumbing and Electrical; he continued to remodel homes and restore Camaros. Retiring from his business, he moved to Crescent City in 2002, where he continued to remodel homes and work on his cars. Lucian was a member of the Northern Knights Car Club.

Debra Witt (Heggen), born May 17, 1953, passed away on Nov. 10, 2014, at her home in Everett, Wash., with her loving husband by her side.

Debbie was born in Crescent City to Charles and Grace Heggen. In 1974 she married Douglas Witt. She graduated from Chico State University in 1975. Debbie was a beloved mother, homemaker and also worked outside the home. After moving to Washington in 1985, Debbie began working for Snohomish County as an accountant. Her children remember her as a smart, practical, patient and loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She was the glue that held and continues to hold her family together even to this very day.

James Paul Novak
James Paul Novak, born Sept. 4, 1934, in Chandler, Ariz., went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 6, 2014, in Tucson, Ariz. James died at home with his family present; he was 80 years old. He was a father, grandfather and good friend to many throughout his life. He understood the concept of serving others as evidenced by his service to his family, the United States (Army veteran, Korean War) and the Arizona Highway Patrol. Surviving family members are his wife, Judy, of 46 years, son and daughter-in-law Jim and Cindy Novak, son Bruce Allen, daughter Carole Allen, grandchildren Ben and Kelly Novak and Timothy Ambrose.

Kindra Lynn Kirkpatrick Lindsey
Born May 16, 1984, to Randy and Susie Kirkpatrick in Springfield, Ore. Passed peacefully from the arms of the love of her life, Brigg Lindsey, into the arms of Jesus on Nov. 3, 2014, at the age of 30 after a long illness.

She was a miracle baby to start with, having heart reconstruction surgery at just 1 day old. Kindra loved many things in this world: cats, dogs, flowers, cooking, music, holidays. Her sense of humor and practical jokes will be with us always. She was a Goonie at heart and the founder of Team Brent.
