Greetings you secondhand stunners! I’m pleased to announce that today’s column — the 10th installment of the Garage Sale Review — marks a very special occasion for followers of this scholarly chronicle of junk. Yes, against all odds the Review has survived nine harrowing descents into the ravenous labyrinth of Northern California garage sales and come out mostly unscathed, except for that one brush with a rusty barbecue grill, and now probably tetanus. In the face of unprecedented challenges — garage sale proprietors screaming at me to get the hell off their property, junk-addicted early birds slapping my hand away from juicy deals and angry phone calls demanding I retract fiery truth-slinging critiques — we pressed on, and I sincerely believe we’re better for it.
