The second annual Noll Paddle Festival was considerably more bumpy than the first, but despite the conditions returning overall champion James Bavin of Arcata  was able to defend his fastest time overall, shaving over two minutes off of the course record that he set in 2015, setting the mark at 55:40.

“This was definitely a brutal paddle for these guys,” said event organizer Rhyn Noll. “They are all extremely tough for banging that one out. It was really rough over there by the lighthouse and then once we got over here to (Pebble Beach) it started to calm down a little bit.”

While most of my coaching career was as a football coach, one year I got to coach the Warrior track team. There were a lot of talented boys and girls on that team. One individual was a young man that I had the privilege of coaching in football as well, Terry Vance.
