Chris Howard joined the administrative team at Elk Valley Rancheria on June 30 as the Director of Public Relations, Economic Development and Environmental Services.

Howard earned his bachelor of science degree in zoology from the UC Davis, and has worked for the past 15 years as a local wildlife and fisheries biologist for both Green Diamond Resource Company and Rellim Redwood Company. He also coordinates the Mill Creek Fisheries Monitoring Program, the longest running salmonid lifecycle monitoring program in the State of California.
Howard recently served as president of the Crescent City/Del Norte County Chamber of Commerce, and he continues to serve as an advocate for Del Norte County with national, state and local officials.

The rancheria has announced plans for a destination resort and casino on its 203.5-acre Martin Ranch property in Crescent City.
