Antique business moves
After having a booth for more than two years at the Robin's Nest Antiques and Collectibles mall, Sandra Fernandes decided it was time to move her business home to 1650 Parkway Drive, where she and her husband run Parkway Auto Repair. She opened Parkway Drive Antiques there on July 1.
andquot;It was wonderful at the Robin's Nest,andquot; she said. andquot;I was there from the day she opened. But it was time to be here at home with our shop.andquot;
A Del Norte County resident since 1959, Fernandes said she enjoys working at home.
andquot;It's very ideal,andquot; she said. andquot;It's worked well for 20 years, to have a business and home here.
At Parkway Drive Antiques, Fernandes offers items ranging from the primitive to the elegant, including pottery, jewelry, artwork, Native American items, books, kitchen collectibles, tools, fishing rods and rustic or nautical things.
andquot;I add things on a daily basis, so there's always something new,andquot; she said. andquot;Also, I do buy estates and vintage collectibles, big or small.andquot;
Fernandes said she appreciates the friendly atmosphere that exists between local antiques dealers.
Shop hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For further information, call (707) 464-6035.
State Farm opens new office
State Farm Insurance agent Mary Dorman will be moving her office on Friday to Front Street Plaza, at 1270 Front St. between Vita Cucina and the Ambrosia Grill. The new office location is scheduled to open on July 16.
Dorman's team members, Amber McGill and Linda Norbury, will move with her. Lisa McKeown, another State Farm agent who shares office space with Dorman at her current location at 611 M St., will remain there.
andquot;We just needed more space,andquot; Dorman said. andquot;We will have a lot more room, and the (U.S.) Hwy. 101 and Front St. location will offer a little bit more traffic flow.andquot;
Dorman was also attracted to her new office space because it is a newer building and the landlord is a local resident.
andquot;I like spending money locally,andquot; she said. For further information, call (707) 464-2414.
