Pizza King and Tsunami Lanes have made some changes to their operations recently.
Pizza King's bar is becoming more of a party room, said its manager Ralph Murphy.
andquot;We're changing from being a bar every night to a party room that people can rent out,andquot; Murphy said. andquot;Some Friday nights are 'Kids' Night.' Saturday nights we have bands for adults.andquot;
Meanwhile, Tsunami Lanes Sports Bar andamp; Grill no longer serves lunch. New hours are 4 p.m. to midnight seven days a week, and the new menu is comprised solely of finger foods and appetizers, said bar manager Christophe Bonnegrace.
New carpet cleaner in town: When construction jobs started drying up recently, Paulo Pereira decided to use some carpet cleaning skills he had picked up while working for Golden State Construction during the past three years. In December he opened Duck's Carpet Cleaning service for commercial, residential, RV and auto carpet cleaning needs.
andquot;I do all types of carpet cleaning,andquot; Pereira said.
New owner for Lake Earl Market: After 27 years away, William Cobb has returned to Crescent City. He now owns and operates the Lake Earl Market at 4301 Lake Earl Drive.
andquot;My sister, Christine Slette, owned it for three years,andquot; Cobb said. andquot;I bought it from her so I could come back to my hometown.andquot;
A 1983 graduate of Del Norte High School, Cobb had been working in the construction field since then.
andquot;I sold everything I had in Redding to come back here to be close to my family,andquot; he said. andquot;I love the ocean and fishing, and wanted to get back to the reality of life.andquot;
New home for Del Norte Travel: Del Norte Travel moved to a new location this month at 539 H Street. Their former digs at 440 J Street are now for sale. andquot;The space here is more contemporary,andquot; said travel agent Jill Halls. andquot;It's configured in a way that fits what we do a lot better.andquot;
Cindy Speakman has owned and operated Del Norte Travel since she bought it a year ago. Speakman herself has been a travel agent for 11 years.
