The public is invited to two services for Crescent City's Bruno de Solenni next week.

The Oregon National Guard captain was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday.

A rosary will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 319 E. St., on Friday at 7 p.m.

A Christian Burial Mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m., also at St. Joseph's. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

The de Solenni family has requested that people attending the services wear red, white and blue.

"Those are the colors he died for," his mother, Cali Martin, said this week.

In lieu of flowers and food, the family also requests donations to the "Bruno de Solenni Memorial Fund," which has been set up to aid military families affected by the war.

There is now a Web site,, with links to compilations of memoirs, articles and blogs.

A PayPal account has been set up, and donations can be made by going to the Web site.

Donations can also be made by mail to Bruno de Solenni Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 876, Crescent City, CA 95531.

Cards and letters can be sent to Lisa Wheeler, c/o Maximus Group, 600 Churchill Ct., Woodstock, GA 30188.
