Essex wedding held in Crescent City after groom's friends saved his life

But for the best man and groomsmans' bravery, Chuck and Noella Essex would not have had a wedding.

The couple exchanged wedding vows recently at the United Methodist Church on H Street.

Standing with them were the groom's best man, Troy Wood, and groomsman Nate Trimm. Both leapt into action April 26, 2006 to save Wood's life when a stock car he was working on caught fire.

Wood and Trimm were awarded Bronze Stars from the State of California for saving Essex' life.

Also standing with the bride and groom were matron of honor, Reese Trimm; bridesmaid, Regina Price; flower girl, Cheyanne Trimm; and ring bearer, Hunter Trimm.

The couple was feted afterwards at a reception held at their home.
