The $2.04 million renovation of the Del Norte College of the Redwoods is well under way, with all offices and classrooms in the main building moved to temporary locations.
andquot;It has been difficult to re-orient people,andquot; said maintenance specialist Stephen McCollum.
The financial aid, counseling services, enrollment services, administrative services and the bookstore have been moved.
According to McCollum, the library, which has also been moved, will andquot;include the texts neccessary for the (summer) courses we offer.andquot;
Kelly Wilson, student services specialist for the college, said, andquot;Even though we have signs posted and caution tape up, some students still have trouble finding the services.andquot;
According to McCollum, summer school students and students coming by the college for information should drive past the main building and park along Small Avenue.
Superintendent Shawn Sarwas of the Mt. Shasta branch of Timberworks, the construction company heading the project, said the main building should be completed by August 24, and the addition to the library should be complete by January 1.
According to Sarwas the Department of Seismic Activity required that the main building be upgraded to current seismic building regulations.
The main building will house the services that are now in temporary locations.
