The Del Norte County Board of Supervisors will consider extending their contract with Del Norte Ambulance, Inc. for five more years and giving the company a pay increase at Tuesday's meeting.

Del Norte Ambulance, which provides service to the 1,003 square miles of Del Norte County, is requesting an 8 percent increase, in part because of rising energy costs.

In their letter to the board requesting the increase, Del Norte Ambulance President Ron Sandler noted increasing fuel costs for running the ambulance service, as well as a 15 percent increase in monthly power bills and doubling of propane costs.

On Tuesday, the board will direct staff to look at Del Norte Ambulance's proposal and decide at a future meeting whether or not to fulfill the request.

Also at Tuesday's board meeting, the supervisors will hear a presentation of the Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authorities 2007/2008 budget.

The board will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Flynn Administration Center located at 981 H St., Room 100, Crescent City.
