Yurok Tribe awarded funds to help disasters

The recently received a share of $1 million to enhance the use of volunteers in disaster readiness.

CaliforniaVolunteers, a state agency that helps coordinate volunteer activities during disasters, awarded the tribe $49,778 on May 4.

The agency also manages other programs and initiatives to increase the number of people involved with service and volunteering.
