Two botanists have published a book andquot;for passionate plant loversandquot; that details the diverse and rate species of northwestern California and southwestern Oregon.

Called andquot;Rare Plants of Southwest Oregon,andquot; the $15 book is intended to help increase awareness of rare plants in this area.

Co-author Rachel Showalter said the book is andquot;geared to the people that work in the forest...andquot;

Showalter, Bureau of Land Management botanist for the Glendale Resource Area, and Linda Mullens, botanist for the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, worked together on the book.

The book is 298 pages and includes more than 350 color photos.

The book is available at the Grants Pass Interagency Office of the BLM and Forest Service, 2164 N.E. Spalding Ave., Grants Pass, Ore., 97256, or the BLM District Office, 3040 Biddle Road, Medford, Ore., 97504.
