Joe Hamilton and Margaret Keating elementary schools will receive $50,000 in planning grants.

The High Priority Schools Grant Program's grants are designed to help many students in low performing schools.

The school district developed a plan designed to improve student learning and academic performance along with implementing State Board of Education endorsed components supporting academic student achievements.

The plans were submitted to the State Board of Education. If approved by the board, the schools will receive $400 per student per year for up to four years. The district should have an answer in about two weeks.
