The employee who allegedly had sexual relations with multiple inmates pleaded not guilty to the charges in Del Norte Superior Court Friday.

Bonnie Sue Freeman, 51, faces three felony counts of having sex with an inmate. If convicted of all three counts, officials from the Del Norte County District Attorney's Office said, Freeman could face a maximum sentence of four years and four months - three years for the initial conviction and eight months for each additional charge.

According to the criminal complaint, Freeman, who was a supervising cook at the prison, allegedly had consenting sexual relations with three separate inmates from April 2006 to February of this year.

Freeman's next court date is scheduled for April 3.
