A Crescent City man took law enforcement officials on a noon-hour high-speed chase through and around the city Tuesday.

Deputies and Officers from the Del Norte County Sheriff's Office, Crescent City Police Department and California Highway Patrol tried to keep up with 24-year-old Donald Kevin Webb Jr. and the 280 Z Nissan he was driving as it sped through parts of Crescent City at over 60 miles per hour.

andquot;He was driving so recklessly that we couldn't keep up with him,andquot; Sheriff's office Sgt. Steve Morris said. andquot;He was driving in such a manner that we didn't want to be chasing him through neighborhoods.andquot;

Webb Jr. was wanted on two local warrants for failing to pay a vehicle code violation and a probation violation.

Now Webb Jr. will have warrants out for his arrest for reckless driving, evading a peace officer and speeding.

andquot;He is also wanted in the questioning by Oregon State Police in an incident where he evaded officers,andquot; Morris said.

Morris added that the car Webb Jr. was driving - a bluish silver Nissan 280 Z - was not his.

andquot;The car we suspect him of having belongs to somebody who is deceased,andquot; Morris said. andquot;And we know that Donald has no right to the car.andquot;

While Webb Jr. was not a huge priority for the Sheriff's Office - andquot;He was only wanted for questioning by the OSP,andquot; Morris said - he put a target on himself for Tuesday afternoon's actions.

andquot;He started out pretty low on the priority list,andquot; Morris said. andquot;He's now bumping his way to the top of the list.andquot;
