Healthcare District to discuss clinic property


The Del Norte Healthcare District will meet in closed session today

to discuss proposals for the more than 1-acre, ocean-side A Street

Clinic property that the public body seeks to sell for at least $1.25


Distict officials would not release information about offers for the

Crescent City land, citing negotiations.

The Tuesday meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Sutter Coast

Hospital. The district could award, reject or negotiate offers.

A board committee opened bids in a closed-door session on Friday,

said district board Chairman Terry McNamara.

McNamara would not disclose the committee's recommendation for the


The district received four offers for the property, said Dwayne

Reichlin, the board's vice chairman.

Reichlin and Norma Reynolds, the district's executive officer, also

would not release details on the proposals. The board will review the

offers in closed session.

andquot;We're acting on the advice of our attorney,andquot; said Reichlin, who

served on the committee that reviewed the bids.

Money from the sale would help fund the district's $6.5 million Del

Norte Community Wellness Center, district officials have said. The

district plans to open the 28,000 square-foot building on Northcrest

Drive in the spring.
