Del Norte to receive partial anti-drug grant

Although it is not the recipient of a full grant, as are 40 of the state's 58 counties, Del Norte County will receive funds through the California Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team program operated by the Office of Emergency Services.

Full grants in the state's Northern Region were allocated to Humboldt ($418,228), Shasta ($1,976,575) and Yolo ($1,565,197) counties.

Emergency Services will begin distributing a total of $29 million in grant funds to county sheriff's departments throughout the state.

The program's goal is to target meth manufacturers and traffickers who produce or sell significant qualities of the drug, upset their operations, prosecute those responsible and seize assets related to drug production.

Last year the program rescued 152 children in the process of fulfilling its goals.
