Aaron Schaad is another former Warrior standout that has returned to Del Norte, where he devotes time to the youth of our community.

A 1993 Del Norte High graduate, while a Warrior Aaron played four years of football, wrestled four years and competed in track two years.

I remember the outstanding job he did as the Warriors middle linebacker, and like many excellent athletes he also started on the offensive line. Aaron had the pleasure of having coach Lewis Nova as both his football and wrestling coach.  Coach Nova's comments about Aaron were great. He said that "he is a hard-nosed competitor that always gave his all and got his job done. I grew up in coaching traveling around with the Schaad family."

They are special.

After graduation Aaron went on to college at Southern Oregon University in Ashland where he continued his wrestling career. After completing his eligibility Aaron worked as a graduate assistant in the Southern Oregon University wrestling program for one year.

After leaving college he coached for two more years at Eagle Point

High School and one year at Bend before returning to Crescent City.

When Aaron returned he worked as an assistant to Dave Bokor before

taking over as head coach. This will be his third year leading the

Warrior wrestling program.andensp; Aaron has also coached youth football for

three years, two here and one in Oregon.

Aaron is not the only member of the Schaad clan to work with our

wrestlers. Brother Clint is Aaron's assistant. Clint is also a former

Warrior also wrestled at Southern Oregon. Aaron and Clint's

father Chuck had for years volunteered countless hours working with our

youth. When he was helping coach Bokor he was fondly referred to by the

team members as Grandpa Bokor. Now he is affectionately referred to as

Grandpa Schaad.

This Warrior fan has the greatest respect for the Schaad family and what they do for our youth. They are a real class act.

You can see them in action on Saturday at the high school as Del

Norte hosts the annual Battle of the Border wrestling tournament.

Dick Trone writes on his reflections and the history of Del Norte

High Warrior sports. Trone, who played football for the Warriors, had

an illustrious career on the gridiron at Humboldt State University.

Trone was head football coach at Del Norte High for a number of years

before retiring.
