LRT's annual gala May 12

Lighthouse Repertory Theatre's sixth annual Gala Celebration will be May 12 at the Tolowa Event Center at Lucky 7 Casino.

This is LRT's biggest fundraiser of the year, and proceeds benefit its Building Fund for renovation of Red's Theatre.

The gala includes a social hour, buffet dinner, silent auction and the original musical revue "Las Vegas Tonight!" written by Ruth Rhodes and directed by Stephanie La Torre. Enjoy the fun of a talent show featuring LRT performers.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour and then dinner at 6:30 p.m. The show will be at 7:30 p.m.

CRDN Chorale performs May 9

The College of the Redwoods, Del Norte, Chorale will give its annual

spring concert, "A Patchwork of Memories," at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9,

in Crescent Elk Auditorium.

The choir, some 75 community voices strong, is under the direction

of Christie Lynn Rust, with piano accompaniment by Jill Dovre. Works to

be performed include "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "Steam Heat," "The

Pure Prairie League to perform

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness (DNACA) presents its

fifth and final performance of the season - country rock pioneer Pure

Prairie League (PPL) - at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 20 in Crescent Elk


In 1972, PPL's second album Bustin' Out (RCA Records) went

multi-platinum, bringing classic songs "Falling In and Out of Love," and

"Amie." The band has a rich 42-year history, from its Ohio beginning as

a group of friends playing cover tunes to the present-day foursome

featuring founding member/pedal-steel innovator John David Call, veteran

bassist Mike Reilly, drummer Rich Schell and lead guitarist Donnie Lee

Harbor Gallery activities

Crescent Harbor Gallery's artist of the month is Sharon Tanner, who

had never painted prior to retiring from nursing. Now she works

primarily in acrylic, and a sampling of her work is on display

throughout May along with pieces by other gallery members.

Randall Tillery will give an oil painting demonstration beginning at

noon Thursday, May 24, preceded by a potluck, at the gallery. Tillery is

a member of the Oil Painters of America, The California Arts Club, The

Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and past president of the

California Arts League.

"Creative Mondays" are currently being held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on

The current Art in Public Places exhibit up in the Del Norte County

Courthouse is a solo show of paintings by Crescent City artist Pauline


Her grouping of colorful, varied works in acrylic is titled

Pistol River concert is May 19

The Pistol River Concert Association presents root and blues stylist
