LRT opportunities for kids

Lighthouse Repertory Theatre is continuing to audition for the children's portion of the melodrama this summer, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the United Methandshy;odist Church. Sought are kids 5andndash;13, who can sing, dance and tell jokes.

Also Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m., LRT will hold a registration session in Crescent Elk School's multipurpose room for its upcoming Summer Day Camp, to be held Aug. 6andndash;17.

The camp is open to children entering first through eighth grades. Scholarship forms for those eligible will be available during registration. This is a first-come, first-served program; LRT will create a waiting list if needed.

High school choir concert

Del Norte High School Music presents its annual choir concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Crescent Elk Auditorium.

The concert will feature the Performance Choir, Women's Chamber

Ensemble and the Madrigals. Admission is $5 for general and $3 for

students and seniors at the door.

Wadsworth show at courthouse

The new Art in Public Places exhibit up in the Del Norte County

Courthouse is a solo show of paintings by Crescent City artist Philip

Wadsworth.

Titled "Abstracts and Landscapes," this show consists of nine large

Activities at Harbor Gallery

Randall Tillery will give an oil painting demonstration beginning at

noon today, preceded by a potluck, at Crescent Harbor Gallery. Tillery

is a member of the Oil Painters of America, The California Arts Club,

The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and past president of the

California Arts League.

The gallery's artist of the month is Sharon Tanner, who works

primarily in acrylic. A sampling of her work is on display throughout

May, along with pieces by other gallery members.

"Creative Mondays" are currently being held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

'Gold Dust or Bust' is May 24

Uncharted Shores Academy is presenting "Gold Dust or Bust" - a

musical about the California Gold Rush - at 7:15 p.m. tonight in

Crescent Elk Auditorium.

The cast includes all the academy's students from kindergarten to

grade five, and admission is free. For more information, call Karen at

TV channel looks for locals

The Learning Channel is now casting for a new documentary series

featuring people who go to the extreme to save money in Del Norte

County, filmDELNORTE, the county's film commission, announced.

The Learning Channel is looking for people that are extraordinarily

thrifty, have pride in their ability to spend as little money as

possible and can honestly say their friends and family referred to them

as cheap and they refuse to alter social situations based on their need

to save, said Cassandra Hesseltine, Del Norte's film commissioner.
