Thanks: Motorcycle ride a success

Submitted

On Saturday, June 2, our motorcycle poker run "Riding For a Cure" was held, which was a fundraiser for Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.

Our run started at the Chart Room Restaurant where over 75 bikes left Crescent City for a ride through the beautiful Highway 199 corridor, with card stops at the Collier Tunnel Rest Area, Taylor's Sausage in Cave Junction, Bridgeview Community Church in the picturesque Illinois Valley, back to the Collier Tunnel Rest Area, with a last stop at the Hiouchi Visitor Center. The ride ended at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds where a barbecue tri-tip lunch, prepared by Rod, Rodney and Joey Lesina, awaited the riders.

The event drew riders from the Crescent City and Brookings area, as

well as riders from Eureka and Redding. In addition, there were riders

from as far away as Portland, Ore.; Kennewick, Wash.; and Fresno. The

ride was very relaxing and quite a beautiful one winding through the

Smith River canyon and the Illinois Valley in Oregon.

Thanks to Tim Haban of Haban Construction and title sponsor, William

Beegle of Castle Rock Clinical Associates, along with a long list of

other supporters and volunteers, we were able to raise $4,000 to fight

back against cancer and to support those battling cancer in their own

lives here in our area.

Team Haban would once again like to thank all those who took part in

"Riding For a Cure" and to thank all of our sponsors and friends in the

community that enabled this event to be so successful!

We hope you all had a wonderful and heartwarming experience.
