Del Norte Habitat for Humanity will present its 14th annual "House Party" fundraiser Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Crescent City Cultural Center.
A traditional turkey dinner will be served, catered by Fabulous Foods by Julie, and an open bar will be run by the Elks Lodge. The cost is $40 per person, and reservations can be made by calling 458-3205 or 464-4262.
This year's "House Party" auctions (both live and silent) will feature a beautiful wood two-person infrared sauna, a gun/curio cabinet, a jogging stroller, a carved wood mirror, and many other items contributed by individuals and businesses in Del Norte County.
This is the organization's major fundraiser of the year; all funds raised go toward construction of its current house project in Smith River.
Habitat is hoping to install siding, windows and doors, and to complete the roof, making the house watertight before the rains begin, organizers said.
Currently, framing, weather wrapping and trusses have been completed by a team of Habitat volunteers, working with the partner family.
Habitat's partner family, the Lunas, have lived and worked in Del Norte County for over 20 years. The large home that is under construction will allow three generations of the Luna family to continue to live together.
Habitat requires that the partner family contribute sweat equity in the construction of their home; the Lunas have already far surpassed all sweat equity requirements.
