In a coastal town with a local fishing fleet, people might expect to find a fish market, but besides sporadic boat-side offerings in Crescent City Harbor, such a consumer option has been missing - until now.
Front Street Seafood Market will be holding a grand opening ceremony Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., after a four-week soft opening.
"We want to celebrate the opening," said David Kim of Top Blue Marine, the seafood exporting company operating the market.
The market currently has salmon, halibut, lingcod, rockfish, oysters, lobster tail, prawns, and clams in addition to live and/or market-ready redtail perch.
Kim said he intends to have more live fish options soon, which several customers have requested so far.
"It's been a good start," Kim said.
The Front Street Seafood Market is buying some of its products from local commercial fishermen and looking for more fishermen to contribute to the market's aquariums of live seafood and glass-cased offerings.
