Police seek public's help after U.S. Bank robbery
Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in a bank robbery Wednesday afternoon in Crescent City.
Around 4 p.m., a man walked into the U.S. Bank branch at 1020 3rd Street brandishing a pistol and demanding money from a bank teller, according to a statement from the Crescent City Police Department.
The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of money and he left the bank on foot traveling east, police said.
In addition to city police, the Del Norte County Sheriff's Office, National and State Park services and the District Attorney's Office converged at the area to search for the robber, to no avail.
The man was described as white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, slender and 50 to 60 years old. He was wearing a black winter coat, navy blue shirt, blue jeans and a black knitted watch cap.
The CCPD is asking anyone with information about the case - even someone who was just in the area and noticed something suspicious - to contact authorities.
Citizens can call the Police Department at 464-2133 or the Crescent City Crime Tip Line anonymously at 218-4229.
