Six Rivers National Forest is inviting interested citizens to serve on the Resource Advisory Committees of Del Norte and Humboldt counties.

RACs are responsible for reviewing and recommending land management projects to be funded under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 should the act be reauthorized.

Prospective committee members must reside within California and preferably within Del Norte and Humboldt counties.

The committee consists of 15 members representing a wide range of interests, and each member is assigned to one of three categories.

The Del Norte County RAC currently has vacancies in all three categories:

andbull; Category A represents organized labor or non-timber forest product harvester groups, developed outdoor recreation, off-highway vehicle users, commercial recreation activities, energy and development interests, commercial timber industry, or holds federal grazing or land use permits, or represent nonindustrial private forest land owners within the area for which the committee is organized.

andbull; Category B represents nationally recognized environmental organizations, regionally or locally recognized environmental organizations, dispersed recreational activities, archaeological and historical interests, nationally or regionally recognized wild horse and burro interest groups, wildlife or hunting organizations, or watershed associations.

andbull; Category C represents state elected office (or a designee), county or local elected official, American Indian tribes within or adjacent to Del Norte County, school officials or teachers, or represent the affected public at large.

Humboldt's RAC has one active member and one replacement member vacancy in Category B.
